Anambra State Government host World Robotics and Technovation champions.
The Anambra State Government has awarded university scholarships to the six students of Regina Pacis Model Secondary School, Onitsha who emerged champions at the World Robotics Technovation Competition in USA.
The students were also offered the sum of six million naira, while their mentor and their principal received two million naira each.
Speaking during the event at Governor’s Lodge, Governor Willie Obiano expressed happiness that they did Nigeria and Africa proud.
The six girls are Adaeze Onuigbo, Vivian Okoye, Promise Nnalue, Nwabuaku Ossai, Jessica Osita and Miracle Igboke while their mentor is Mrs Uchenna Onwuamaegbu- Ugwu.

They defeated 138 other countries during the global technovation challenge in San Francisco, USA to take the gold trophy.
Governor Willie Obiano who extolled their performance, noted that his administration would continue to reward excellence in academics.
Governor Obiano directed the Commissioner for Education to work out the modalities for the scholarship, stressing that he was proud of teachers in the area.
He announced that government would equip sixty schools with modern laboratories and urged citizens to support efforts in the sector.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha noted that three model schools would be established to enhance the learning STEM education.
The Principal of the school, Reverend Father Vincent Ezeakaa appreciated the support offered by the government to enable the students Excel.
The Mentor of the students, Mrs Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu noted that the success was due to hardwork, commitment and support given to them.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Promise Nnalue expressed happiness to the government for rewarding their achievement.
The Archbishop of Onitsha Catholic Archdiocese, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke and the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo applauded the government for investing in the education sector.
On his part, Senator Victor Umeh said the students performed well because of the foundation laid by the government in the sector.
