Why Nigerian Budgeting & Contract Awards Are Opaque – Nefertiti

Nigerian Politicians are afraid of doing the things that could open them up to accountability. That is why Budgeting & Contract Awards are opaque.

It is by design, they abandon old projects & start new ones. That way, they can clean out.

But no nation prayed itself to success. The best way to predict the future is to create it. When you create nothing, you gain nothing.

No amount of propaganda can make Nigeria succeed. Until they understand & appreciate the importance of data or statistics, Nigeria is going nowhere. Nigerian politicians actually know the right things to do, they are not as daft as we make them out to be.

The truth is, “when they build a system of proper checks & balance, the way it is done in Norway or Sweden, they open themselves up to transparency.” They won’t have that. People like Akpabio & Wike won’t tolerate citizen’s audacity & scrutiny.

All the flyovers & bridges you saw them award, it is how they sustain their political structures.

Go to Rivers & Akwa Ibom states, there are no jobs. The youths are jobless, & the companies in Tran-Amadi Industrial Layout are gone.

Akwa Ibom is worse, it is called a “Civil Service State” for a reason. In their thinking, you have roads & flyovers, what else do you want?

Nigeria doesn’t defy logic, they simply don’t want it to work!

On a lighter note; the Agbados have become lethargic. They no longer constitute nuisance under Peter Obi’s tweets. They’ve been played, used, & dumped.

Governance is not by cho cho cho. Most of them are tired of hoping. The mandate is now feeble, hunger doesn’t care about tribe or religion. Ebin pawa O will balance you real quick.

They took on the Life of Bigotry & Corn-ditioned themselves. That is the only way they get to hide their obvious disappointment in Bola Tinubu.

No one is under the illusion that Asiwaju will favor them. But bigotry is fashionable, they must hold on to something somehow. Without bigotry, then the party is over!

Remember the early days of Jagaban?

“May Nigeria Succeed.”
“This Government will favor my family.”

These were some of the stupidest things we saw. The NTA was posting populist stuff back to back. They swam around the so-called rejuvenated NTA like busy bees. But the frenzy was short-lived.

The party is over, reality is not film tricks. He indeed hit the ground running, but in the opposite direction. His supporters are totally embarrassed, but they won’t say these things in the open.

2027 is at stake! Therefore, they will continue to maintain their maximum composure. The truth is that Asiwaju has given his all. But nothing will change.

His impulsive nature became his tragic flaw. He shouldn’t have announced “Subsidy is Gone” without a solid plan. He shouldn’t have devalued the Naira without hitting 2 million barrels per day. But that is beside the point.

The truth is that many bigots are no longer with us. Outside Twitter? they d!e everyday. They don’t bring such news here, because they know we’re going to laugh at them. Many don’t have the infrastructure to survive up to 2027.

Companies are leaving, & more brands will follow. In the end, the IMF & the World Bank will be the biggest winners. While Nigerians gnash their teeth & complain, then do nothing, FG not Tinubu will continue its wasteful habit.

After enjoying N12.5 billion in tax credits, PZ Cussons still lost N96.4 billion. As more & more companies under perform & leave, the FG will lose more taxes. At some point, Asiwaju will have to abandon the IMF & the World Bank. But Nigerians will pay back the loans regardless.

They were poor but surviving. Now surviving is a luxury, they can’t afford it. I actually like Asiwaju, because he was true to his words.

“Widen the tax net, reduce their purchasing power, & further slow down the economy.”

Thank you Daddy, now u can sleep before 4am.
