UPDATE : Latest from the Deposition Ongoing regarding Atiku vs CSU/Tinubu

UPDATE:

Deposition is currently ongoing:

—A court officer or recorder is recording the proceedings to make sure the questions and answers are about the truth of the case.

—Atiku’s lawyers, 2 staff of Chicago State University, CSU lawyers and Tinubu’s lawyers are in attendance.

—The CSU staff will answer on behalf of CSU and everything said should be the truth, lying under oath is a federal offense that attracts a prison sentence in the United States.

—A lot will be clarified about the whole documents in the course of the deposition today!

Meanwhile, this is a corporate deposition – meaning the witness is speaking as & for the university as an entity, not personal knowledge. Witness generally can’t assert the 5th. And saying “ I don’t know/can’t remember “ may be construed by the court as disobedience of the order.

This is a special kind of depisition, designated for companies and public institutions.
