This Evil Must Stop – Part 1(Video)

What could you possibly think the police man and this driver were doing?…paying for goods and services delivered or playing Betnaija?….. Devilish accepted practice.

I often hear people say, “Police is your friend” and i ask how?

THIS EVIL PRACTICE HAS TO STOP

I feel so irked,  vehemently, i have refused to keep keeping mute about this seemingly generally accepted evil meted to the poor class of Nigerians by the so-called friend of theirs putting on black uniform.

An Igbo adage says, “arụ  gbaa afọ, ọ bụrụ omenala (when taboo stays longer than a year, it becomes a norm or culture).

It’s no news that Nigerian  police now place self instituted toll gates and forcefully extort money from these poor Keke and okada riders. I wouldn’t know if that’s how it’s also done in the North, I’d say, the eastern part of Nigeria is just a dream come true for them when posted.

On the 1st of Nov, 2017, i encountered something that made me Finally give up on these dudes. They’re obviously  not my friend.

Approaching a popular junction at Amawbia in Anambra State,it was around 10pm as i noticed a somewhat fracas between a police man and a keke rider. I observed from a distance, the police man was obviously demanding some money from the Keke rider. He refused to oblige of which angered the policeman. He immediately disembarked all his passengers and started dragging him out by the shirt. It caught my attention as i drew closer. He finally dragged the poor boy down and started beating him up with his Ak-47 dangling around his shoulders. Other colleagues of his,  four in number joined forces to bludgeon this boy. My heart melted in pity when this boy kept asking, “what did i do to you… Repeatedly, he asked with tears flowing down copiously.

People were around watching but none spoke up.The boy was helplessly on the floor as they took turn to pummel him. His  keke was already impounded.  I couldn’t take it anymore, i had to challenge them to stop beating the boy from where i was watching.

They were all Hausa men as noticed from their accent and language. Surprisingly, they pointed their gun at me and threatened  to shoot if i made more comment.

I needed to be alive as to write this, i painfully left the scene and who would account for that boy’s fate?

Tomorrow morning, he would be labelled a thief and even locked up and must bail himself out.

I refuse to let this slide…I had wanted to say, I’d report to the commissioner’s office… But, to what good? Are they ignorant of this evil practice of extortion? .. #sighs

What a country….

What a country where evil thrives and people keep mute. How did this police men get this far? With so much impunity… They demand money from people as if it’s their right. They beat one up with reckless abandon…

What a country… I am not a keke driver neither do i drive an okada but “hey” these are people’s father, brothers.

Say No to Evil, stop giving police any kobo… Never you laugh with them and help fight this evil norm.
