David Hundeyin’s true-life story is all too familiar to most Nigerians. In fact, it defined our country Nigeria, & brought us to our knees, defeated!
For many “smart” Nigerians, we knew quite early on that 2015 was game over.
2015 was checkmate for Nigerians; the game was over before it started!
Fast forward to 2022; they tried to reenact that same shenanigans, but they met the most unlikeliest of Nigerians; the Obidients.
The Obidients are the finest of Nigeria, the last of the good ones. We come from the finest of Nigerian respectability, & it vexes them!
We thrust ourselves between them & Peter Obi. We soak up all of the pressures, away from our principal.
“The Obidients are toxic” was a product of one of their boiler room machinations to silence us, run us out of town. But the Obidients would have none of that! In fact, we increased the fire & faced the end of the barrel 360° in their direction.
We shoot from every direction, & we hardly miss. Sometimes we shoot, & aim later. That is the best way to keep poachers off your land. 😅
We are 10x smarter, & 20x more educated than them! If anyone should run any group out of town, it is us. Without us, they would have crucified PO on a funerary scaffold.
Reuben Abati & Reno Omokri were outgunned, they couldn’t withstand the firepower of Omojuwa & Tolu Ogunlesi’s led superior barrel. 2015 was never a fair fight. Jonathanians were outnumbered 10:1

PDP Boys were no match for the combined forces of the (Agbados + Buharists), altogether called the now defunct – BMC.
Many of us stood by & watched as the drama unfolded. We were young, with no thought to political chauvinism. We had no political leanings; not of any kind of disdain for country, but disinterest in politics. We & minding our business were as thick as thieves.
Then they made a costly mistake. They decided to touch Obi. I fired the first warning! “Peter Obi is not to be touched!” But Boy! did they listen? They thought they could succeed with Obi were Goodluck Jonathan’s PR failed. But they met the Obidients (The Charge of the Light Brigade).
All their boiler room propagandas against Peter, FAILED! They called us the IPOB, it failed! “He is a religious bigot,” failed! He drove Nzeogwu to carryout the coup, failed! The Obidients came prepared, we gave them 10x the fire they dished out.
We are the last defense against Evil; the profane many Nigerians don’t even know exist. To get to Peter, they will have to come through us.
The slogans “Sai Baba” & the hashtags #CHANGE & #GEJMustGo, were “Red meat” that took on a life of their own. Red meat is something tangible that can satisfy a basic need or wet appetites.
So in their quest for imaginary CHANGE, Nigerians fell for a well orchestrated APC International Propaganda, laced with age-long (antiquated) tribalism. Barrack Obama’s direct meddling & Psychological Engineering added salt to injury.

Nigerians were the fish, U.S Intelligence – the hook. The Nigerian public wanted red meat & they wanted it raw.
The success of 2015 (PSYOP) baffles the reasonable public in Nigeria & abroad (who are accustomed to seeing Nigerian politicians NOT walk a careful line between Red-meat populism & mainstream respectability).
INEC announcement in 2015 that Buhari would replace Goodluck Jonathan was of course, red meat to those who wanted CHANGE lurking in every corner of Nigeria. People needed Opium, something to excite them, & they got it.
CHANGE was the result, but in the opposite direction. And 9 years on, many who voted for the aloof Emperor & unmitigated disaster are still living in denial. While many will continue to defend their poor judgment, others will continue to blame GEJ for not doing enough to fight back. But in truth, HE DID!!
He gave Nigerians enough warnings, but he was no radical. GEJ was never going “to soak the blood of baboons” on the streets. His ambition was never going to be more important than your precious lives.
Obama blocked the sale of arms to Nigeria, he & his wife interfered directly with that election. GEJ had to ferry cash using a private jet & a man of the cloth to purchase arms elsewhere.
The CSOs already energized & amplified, took to the streets chanting #JonathanMustGo.
The #BringBackOurGirls Crusaders lashed on to the pent-up anger ravaging the land as well. At which point, Nigeria was shimmering with all things “dislike” for Jonathan. The rest they say is History!!!
For the Lexicographers who work on the dictionary, all the “mugus” of 2015 should be lumped together in one word.
My brain cells cannot power up the appropriate word at this time. I will let others fill the blank for me…….🥱
