#POinPrincetonUniversityUSA :Excerpts from Peter Obi’s Keynote Speech (video)

His Excellency,Β Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi was keynote speaker at the Chinua Achebe Symposium at Princeton University, USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.

He took his time to strike the right chords during his Keynote address which revolves around the current rascality ongoing in Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬.

Prio to that Peter Obi addressed the Obidients, apologizing for not being able to attend the schedule “Obidient space on Twitter”

I have earlier been invited to deliver a Keynote Speech at The Chinua Achebe International Symposium, and the 10th Anniversary Memorial and 40th Anniversary of His seminal booklet “The Trouble with Nigeria” at Princeton University, New Jersey, USA.

Thankfully, my speech will focus on “The Trouble With Nigeria” as written by our Internationally renowned author, Chinua Achebe, 40 years ago, and I would like everyone to be part of it. Sadly, Nigeria has continued to grapple with, and at an even more alarming rate,

the very troubles written about by Achebe four decades ago. However, we must not allow our nation to go down under the present cocktail of challenges. May I request that you all join me today as the event will be streamed live online?

Details are contained in the attached flyer. Thank you. -PO

See few excerpts from his speech below :Β

“I’ve just commenced the delivery of my keynote address at the Chinua Achebe Symposium at Princeton University- the trouble with Nigeria is self-inflicted. If Achebe was alive, he would have taken back the book. When he wrote it, there was no trouble.

Now, there is real trouble in Nigeria.

If India with 7 times our population, and living in 3,200,000 sq kilometres can feed themselves, then we can feed ourselves because we live in almost a third of their land space, 923,000 sq kilometres with one-seventh of their population.

If India can feed its population, Nigeria with one-seventh of her population can do the same.

Regarding the vision of a New Nigeria we must restructure; if Nigeria is being operated in ways that stop stealing; it will work. We don’t need to change the Constitution to secure the country,

we need to do the right thing and abide by the rule of law.

We must have leadership that is committed to the rule of law.. that has an identity and credentials that can be verified.

“Rascality has become a measure of success in Nigeria. That must change.”

We can start thinking of a new Nigeria with competence, and capacity that is committed to fighting corruption. Is it possible to fight corruption? The answer is yes!…
