The Association of Local Government Chairmen, Ogun state Chapter, has apologised to Governor Dapo Abiodun over the recent remarks made by one of them, Mr. Wale Adedayo, who alleged that the governor diverted statutory Federal Allocation due to the state’s Local Governments in the last two years.
Led by the chairman of Ijebu-Ode LGA, Emilola Gazal, ALGON members met with Abiodun at the governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan on Tuesday.
In the video shared on Facebook, Gazal, along with other members, appealed for forgiveness and were seen prostrating and begging the governor.

In the video, Gazal, speaking in a mixture of English and Yoruba said in part, “We have come here to beg you as a father that you are, as the father of all in this place, your Excellency, please forgive us.
“Your Excellency sir, if you don’t forgive us, who would we go and meet. On behalf of all of us, I am tendering this apology and in particular, on behalf of Wale Adedayo, Your Excellency forgive us.”
Responding, Abiodun said, “God knows that this job I am doing it with every iota of sincerity of purpose in me. I will continue to ensure that I am guided by all the promises that I made in the course of my journey to the Governor’s office.”
Meanwhile, read the accusations their colleague against the Governor below :
” Adedayo in a petition on Monday lamented that the Local Government Chairmen had been unable to go ahead with projects in the past two years.
Part of the petition reads: “Revenue sources, which the local governments should benefit from have mostly been taken over by the State Government. Motor Parks and attendant dues which should go to each local government are being centrally managed by the State Government. Primary school administration and control have been taken over too. There are many others. But, what I crave is for you to assist in helping our people. Why have they taken over revenue sources of the local government? How do they want the grassroots to breathe?

“In Ijebu East Local Government Area, we are a complete rural section. Our people need roads, especially in the interior. They need water. The Health Centres are nothing to write home about. The primary schools are something else. It is a crying shame that, in 2023 some of our people still depend on water from the stream to drink!
“Be assured that I am readily available to answer any question about what I have written here,”

Such a shame, look at them all behaving like slaves, prostrating and apologizing to the Governor who hasn’t defended or proven that the allegations were false…. Just look at them all… A local government system that’s supposed to be autonomous now depend 100% on state Governors to thrive…. Shame… They are even apologizing on behalf of the only bold Person amongst them that summoned the courage to do what they couldn’t say…… Democracy in Nigeria indeed…
