A high-ranking army officer in North Korea was executed because he decided to give his troops extra rations of food and fuel. Lieutenant General Hyon Ju-song was shot at with 90 rounds of bullets by nine military death-row convicts who formed the firing squad. He was sentenced to death after being found guilty of charges of abusing authority, profiting the enemy and taking part in anti-Party acts.
According to local reports, the General was executed at the firing range of the Kang Kon Military Academy located in the Sunan District of the capital Pyongyang.
NK Daily reported that his ‘crime’ was redistributing extra supplies to his men at a satellite launching station in April.
It was reported that while checking the oil supplies for the Sohae Satellite Launching Station during the comprehensive inspections of wartime supplies on April 10, Hyon stated, “We no longer have to suffer and tighten our belts to make rockets or nuclear weapons” to fund Kim Jong-un’s weapons programme. ‘He gave instructions to send out 1 ton of fuel, 580 kg of rice, and 750 kg of corn to military officers at the Launching Station and their families.
