#NairaMutilation : What EFCC may Have succeeded in Doing Inadvertently

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is one agent of the government that’s saddled with the major job of fighting financial crimes.

Lately, with all the good works they may have been doing, majority of Nigerians especially the youths think they are only trying to replace the defunct most dreaded SARS. Their modus operandi is increasingly becoming high handed and undemocratic. Cases of assault, disregard to privacy, unlawful arrests, etc are just but few of the accusations against them by Nigerians.

That’s a case for another day..!!!

This is a post about the possible achievements of the EFCC with the ban on naira spray at events in Nigeria.

What possibly did they achieve with that?

#ChiVIDO2024, Davido and Chioma’s wedding is only a precursor to the new trend most Nigerians, especially the celebrities would be going henceforth.

Prio to Davido’s wedding, the celebrities, especially the Cubana Chief Priest made a post advising everyone to shun naira spray and rather move to dollar.

That singular post was like their unanimous agreement..

These guys moved for massive Dollar mop up….

This guy sprayed over 40pieces of $100 bill..

I saw it through the window as them no gree me and my crew enter…

As onye igbo weh i be… I must calculate the money….

$1 =1,500

$100 = 150,000

$4,000 = 6,000,000 (six Whopping Million naira) just from one person.

Do you know how many years it would take a civil servant depending on Minimum wage to make that?

That’s a case for another day…!!!

THE REPERCUSSIONS OF THAT ACT…

Most Nigerians have since stopped checking the value of Naira against the dollar 💵 as it seems the poor naira has refused to come out of coma ever since it plunged.

1,500 naira to the dollar is officially accepted by the ancestors…. Case closed!

The EFCC Arrested Bobrisky, convicted and moved Shim to Kirikiri Maximum  Prison for a mutilation of Naira crime.

If you did watch the Video, one may wonder how Bobrisky possibly mutilated the naira…. Maybe my eyes were paining me..

Subsequently, EFCC and Cubana Chief Priest settled out of court (video) where he paid N10,000,000 (Ten Million naira) to settle out of court for same crime of Naira mutilation.

Now, EFCC refused to define the meaning of Naira Mutilation to Nigerians which made most Nigerians, especially the celebrities shun the spraying of Naira notes at events. (bad market for Poor Mcs and People doing events)..

What Are the Possible Implications?

Ever since this started, Nigeria seems to be dollarized…. It would seem as though the official currency of Nigeria is DOLLARS not Naira anymore.

Majority of Nigerians are now saving their money in DOLLLARS instead of Naira…

The Pressure on Forex would be increasing as Naira would either stagnate or Plunged down the further.

Imagine the amount of dollars 💵 that flew around Davido’s wedding…

Imagine if it was in Naira…. Majority of those guests would have converted the dollar to naira to spray thereby increasing the Naira in circulation.

This is seriously counterproductive….

Trust the Nigerian celebrities henceforth, it would be the DANCE FOR THE DOLLAR in events…

Our poor Naira would remain in coma till mama calls..
