How Peter Obi attracted Open heart surgery Hospital to Anambra state (pictures)

His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, is one Governor who never loved blowing his trumpet while in public service.

In 2014 just as Peter Obi was about to leave office, he convinced renowned US based cardiac surgeon Dr Joseph Nwilo to return to Anambra to practice. Nwilo complained of the lack of equipment back home, Obi asked him to draw a list for a heart centre and wrote a cheque of ₦ 1bn and that began the journey to one of the best cardiac center in Nigeria currently.

The heart centre named Joseph Nwilo Heart Centre is located in St Josephs Hospital Adazi-nnukwu in Anambra state and has performed tens of open heart surgeries for not just Anambrarians but Nigerians from all works of life. Dr Nwilo is one of the best heart surgeons in the world.

The fact that Peter Obi convinced Dr Nwilo to return home from his well paying US practice is testament to the fact that Peter Obi draws influence and attract & work with the best brains when elected president.

While his peers would usually use their last few weeks in office to steal what they can, Peter Obi was neck deep trying to solve his people’s problems and leaving many more lasting legacies.
