Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for civil servants in the state. The announcement was made on Saturday during the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024. Governor Nwifuru instructed relevant government bodies to establish the payment procedures, which will take effect from September.
In his address, Governor Nwifuru expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of government contracts, particularly criticizing the management of housing projects in Izo Autonomous Community, Ishielu Local Government Area. He directed the Commissioner for Housing to expedite the painting of these houses.
The governor also urged residents to report any delays or issues with government projects to ensure timely completion.
