Crowd Besiege Makurdi Stadium For Ponzi Scheme Reward, Left Disappointed

Multitude of people on Monday who besieged the Akper Aku Stadium in Makurdi in Benue State expecting a reward for their investment have been disappointed.

Daily Trust gathered that as early as 6:00am, the stadium was crowded with people expecting to receive money from a Ponzi scheme known as Inksnation in cash or consumables for their investment during the previous months.

It was learnt that the potential beneficiaries were directed to assemble at the stadium to collect their reward but to their dismay, no official of the purported investment scheme turned out to pay them neither was any explanation offered to them.

A victim, Ayua Solomon, told our correspondent that there was no word from the Inksnation to them, adding that after queuing for a long period under the sun, it became obvious that they had been scammed.

“It’s actually an online investment platform. I paid N2,000 to Inksnation and we were told to gather at the stadium today for our reward of N12,000 cash or consumables such as rice, indomie. We have been here since 6:00am but nothing to show for it.

Another victim who gave her name as Ele Halims, said she was among those who trooped into the stadium from distance areas of the state expecting to collect food commodity worth N12,000 for their N2000 investment in the scheme.

Halims said, “I’m not the only one. Just imagine the crowd inside the stadium and more people are outside. The crowd is overwhelming. We had hope the Inksnation will make us enjoy a better Christmas but that hope has been dashed.

“As we speak, more people are at the gate struggling to enter the stadium but there is nothing happening at all as at 11:00am. Some people even came from other local government outside Makurdi. It’s sad that both old and young in their numbers are disappointed.”

There was no trace of the promoters of the purported scheme but the Police promised to speak on the matter in due course.
