APC suspends National Chairman, Ganduje

National chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Ganduje has been suspended.

He was suspended by the APC ward in Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspension was announced by the ward’s legal adviser, Halliru Gwanzo, who addressed journalists in Kano on Monday.

Gwanzo cited allegations of bribery against Ganduje leveled by the Kano State Government as the reason for the suspension.

“We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him,” Gwanzo stated.

According to the ward APC leaders, the suspension is effective from Monday, 15 April, 2024 until the former governor of the state clears himself from the allegations.

The suspension, throws the leadership of the APC into question and could have wider implications for Nigerian politics in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.

The APC national chairman is yet to comment on the suspension.
