A new Nigerian Television Network, NEWS CENTRAL had an exclusive interview with His Excellency, Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi where he espoused the Parliamentary system of Government as ideal for Nigeria.
Labour Party’s former Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, called on journalists to play a pivotal role in defending democracy and ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind.
“We can’t build this country without sacrifices from all of us, and the fourth estate is very critical to this,” Obi said, emphasising the role of the press in nation-building.
He urged the media to help bridge divisions along ethnic and religious lines, highlighting the importance of unity in overcoming the nation’s challenges. He referenced the widespread suffering, hunger, and hardships across Nigeria, stressing the need to address these issues urgently.
The Labour Party leader added that Nigeria is in dire need of leadership, which he says would depend on the collective effort of the citizenry.
“If we have leaders who prioritise the country’s welfare over personal interests, Nigeria will thrive, and the people will enjoy a better life,” he added.
Obi also acknowledged the entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians, sharing a story of a Nigerian he met in Rwanda who is positively impacting lives, showcasing the resilience and potential of the nation’s citizens.
When asked about the fuel subsidy Brouhaha.. He corrected the ongoing erroneous statements that he said he would remove subsidy from day 1…
He said, “i would first remove the criminality in the fuel ⛽ subsidy which is over 50% and present to Nigerians the true nature of what they are subsidising…. If i remove the subsidy, they would see what we’re replacing it with ……..
