As the novel coronavirus pandemic is busy ravaging the whole world which Nigeria isn’t exempted, one would expect every form of empathy, help and encouragement from both corporate organizations, individuals and the government.
Unfortunately, these individuals and corporate bodies have donated Billions of naira to the government, most probably believing it would get to the hands of the suffering masses but painfully, the same entrusted government is busy playing politics with the given funds.
Nigerians citizens have remained obediently locked down in compliance with the directives of the government in a bid to contain the virus spread but things are not moving as expected. Hunger and abject poverty are definitely pushing people back to the street defiantly.
Anambra State government earlier announced that her citizens would henceforth start putting on a face mask while moving out.. Ordinarily, one would expect the sate government to provide and distribute the masks freely to the public.
Guess what, they are alleged to be selling it at a price of N400 naira to the already impoverishment citizens.
An aggrieved Anambrarian who wrote his encounter on Facebook shared below…
Anambra State govt. declares compulsory wearing of face mask. The irony of the situation is that a lot of individuals and corporate bodies donated large number of face mask, cash and other materials to the State govt. to help it fight Covid 19.
I visited Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching Hospital Awka only to see that patients are compulsorily made to buy a single face mask for #400 before u will be attended to. How can the state govt. be collecting money and materials from generous individuals and corporate bodies to help the people and they still commercialize the items donated to the detriment of the poor masses.
What is the huge amount of money donated to fight Covid 19 meant for? where is the money? has it been shared by those at the corridor of power ? they merely deceived the gullible ones by sharing three cups of rice to their members. can the poor masses afford to buy the face mask for #400 every before they can go out to search for their daily bread. why has our politicians sold their conscience to the devil?
Now, even if they deny not to have had any hand in the sales which is expected, what would they say about not Making any available for free?
I demand to know their plans of making the masks and even hand gloves available before Making such a pronouncements…

I NEED THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO QUICKLY REACT TO THIS AND PROBABLY PLUCK A LEAF FROM CROSS-RIVER STATE GOVERNMENT WHO PRODUCES THE FACE MASKS LOCALLY AND SHARES FREELY TO HER CITIZENS……
