Alex Otti sets to Power Aba with Independent Power Plant for Electricity

Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia state has indeed shown that anything is possible with the right will. He has changed the face or governance in Abia state within short period of time since inception.

Earlier today, Abia state was trending for good as more solid road constructions keep sprouting.

Alex Otti made a tweet today about his meeting with Prof. BATH Nnaji…. One of the first class brains in Nigeria on how to get Abia state powered up.

Read his tweet below :

“Recently, I had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Bartholomew Nnaji, CON, a former Minister of Power and Chairman of Geometric Power Limited and his team. We had some insightful conversation about the gains of the power plant in Alaoji Aba, Geometric Power Aba Limited, and its current status.

HIS WORDS: “So, we are expecting that once we have gas, which will be in the next month or two, we will be able to power Aba, that is, from our own power plant. “Right now, we are buying power from the National Grid, that is why power is not reliable yet and so, we will like to ask our citizens of Aba to bear with us that we are getting there. We are pretty much there. “The turbines to power the electricity plant which were taken abroad for maintenance have been brought back to the plant and reinstalled. “We are now working with the NNPC to resolve the issue of gas supply to the plant.”

He also said consumers are going to get the power at a regulated price set by the regulator, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). I am grateful for Prof. Nnaji’s support and recognition of our commitment to building a prosperous Abia State through effective collaboration between the government and the private sector.

By leveraging on the strength of the power plant, we can make significant strides in such areas as the manufacturing sector, infrastructure development, SMEs, job creation, and social welfare. Also on the team were the Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Power Holding Corporation, NDPHC, Chiedu Ugbo, and other senior management staff of NDPHC.
