[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he residents of Iba Community in Ojo local government area of Lagos State woke up to see some confiscating stickers on their respective gates and walls.
The content reads : “Lagos state Ministry of urban and physical development And Lagos state University.. ( LASU LAND REGULARISATION AND URBAN REGENERATION SURVEY)”.
Jkcyno’s blog gathered that this sudden development started from January, 2018 and still on going.
The Lagos state University (LASU) are claiming ownership to the massive community land of Iba and as far as Igbonerin and its suburbs. Sequel to this, the aforementioned institution claim that the “Oba and Omoniles” have been unlawfully selling the lands which lawfully belong to the school and would which to reclaim them.
However, most residents of this community whom are mostly “Igbos” have developed and have been living in this area for the past 20 years or more. They couldn’t fathom the sudden claim of ownership from the institution. This unfortunate ordeal has greeted the residents with confusion and unrest.
Furthermore, the said institution allegedly went ahead to demand that the entire residents would be paying 50,000 naira annual rental fee to them whilst some residents whom pleaded to be anonymous said they are demanding for the sum of 100,000 naira. Details of the issue of money and demands are yet to be ascertained as the time of this report.
We also gathered that Iba Community/residents have sued the Lagos state University and the case in currently in court as they vehemently demand justice be done.
