The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, over alleged abuse of the Naira.
Sources revealed that E-Money was taken into custody by EFCC operatives at his Lagos residence on Monday night. He is accused of spraying British Pounds at a social event in Lagos-an act that violates Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act-and allegedly defacing the Naira.
According to the EFCC, preliminary investigations are underway, and the commission intends to prosecute him once inquiries are complete. E-Money has reportedly been flown to Abuja for further interrogation.
Although the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to comment, internal sources confirmed the arrest and ongoing probe.
