The members and staff of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, Awka district, Ogidi district, Ogbaru district and Nnewi district have resorted to a peaceful protest citing several ill treatments.
Jkcyno blog gathered at the scene of the event, in front of the Awka district main office that the staff and management of the district were all assembled in front of the main gate while chanting songs of praises amidst heavy security presence.
Speaking in anonymity, one of the protesting staff said the major issue that prompted the protest was the arrest and detaining of one of their colleagues by the “ogas from Enugu” and pushing him to Awkuzu SARS for the past 5days.

He however said that, it would have been proper if any staff found wanting to pass through internal investigation panel than using SARS to arrest a staff.
Amongst other issues include :
1. No Promotion for ten years
2. Payment of salaries in batches
3. Unlawful arrest and detention of staff
4. Unilateral stoppage of Medicare
5. Late payment of salaries
6. No payment of long service award.
There were over 30 heavily armed policemen stations around the vicinity as at the time of this report.
The atmosphere is looking a bit tensed with passersby staring in utter confusion.
