Recently, we have received credible information that the Nigerian government is making efforts to coerce the Ghanaian authorities into allowing them to take custody of Mr. Hundeyin. We believe that this move is an attempt to silence his critical voice, curtail press freedom, and undermine the principles of democracy and human rights.
Your Excellency, Ghana has a long-standing tradition of upholding democratic values, respecting the rule of law, and providing refuge to individuals fleeing persecution. It is in this spirit that we humbly appeal to you to ensure the safety and protection of David Hundeyin during his stay in Ghana.
We kindly request that your government:
Grant Mr. Hundeyin the necessary legal and diplomatic protection to ensure his safety and well-being.
Uphold Ghana’s commitment to press freedom and the protection of journalists, irrespective of their nationality.
Refrain from succumbing to external pressures that may compromise Ghana’s commitment to human rights and the rule of law.
Encourage open dialogue between relevant authorities to address any concerns in a peaceful and just manner.
Continue to serve as a beacon of hope for those seeking refuge and protection from persecution.

We believe that protecting David Hundeyin is not just an obligation but a testament to Ghana’s unwavering commitment to upholding the values that define a just and democratic society. Your leadership in this matter will be remembered as a beacon of hope for journalists and defenders of human rights everywhere.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. We remain hopeful that Ghana will continue to be a bastion of justice and a protector of those who seek refuge in its territory.
