The Speaker of Anambra State house of Assembly, Rt Hon Rita Maduagwu has been impeached on Tuesday.
According to Daily Post, Maduagwu was impeached by 22 out of 30 members of the state assembly.
She was impeached following a motion moved by a member of the House, Hon Ikemba Uzoezie and seconded by Hon Onyebuchi Offor.

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu has debunked the news that she has been impeached by the House.
Speaking to journalists at a press briefing in her office on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, Barrister Maduagwu revealed that the purported impeachment did not follow due process as no notice of impeachment was served her. According to her, those who perpetrated the purported impeachment did not meet two third majority of the House as required by the constitution. She mainted that Anambra State House of Assembly has thirty lawmakers and fifteen members of the House did not endorse the purported impeachment.
She maintained that she is still the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly.
Part of the reason for her impeachment were stated as financial impropriety, gross misconduct and docility.
Uzoezie, a member of APGA, representing Aguata two state constituency was has been announced as the new speaker.
