My Fate, My Destiny – Episode 2

A letter came in from my school that I had been awarded a scholarship due to excellent performance in school.
I was happy and over joyed, I had something to live for.

As years past on God gave me the strength to bear all the pain caused by my aunt. I was focused I had to be something in life, I will not give up.
My aunt passed away when I was writing my SSCE exams, I was 17 at that time.

I was all alone again. She didn’t have any children because she never married. I missed her, though she was cruel to me she provided a roof over my head and a place to call home for awhile.

Going through my aunts things when she died I came upon my fathers office bag. All the memories came back to hunt me and fresh tears fell from my eyes. I opened the bag, I saw some documents which I didn’t really understand at that time, I saw some photographs and a bunch of keys.

Few weeks following her death, I started looking for a job, I needed food and a roof over my head. Other family members refused to take me in believing that am an evil child that would bring harm to them.

On a sunday after close from church I saw a wallet on floor just outside the church. I looked around and didn’t see anyone in search of anything so I took it to our pastor. He prayed for me and thanked me. But before I left his office the owner came in.

The man was really thankful and happy, he opened the wallet to check its content and as he did I saw its was filled with foreign notes.
That was how I met chief Badmos and also became close to my pastor.

After church, my pastor would demand I wait and he would give me money, some clothes and food. I never told him about my problems but I guess God did.
One day our landlord came to kick me out because I couldn’t pay the rent. It was raining heavily.

He told me not to touch any furniture and electronics that he would use it to cover for the months I owe.
Without knowing were to go. I packed the little clothes I had. I also took my fathers office bag containing the documents, pictures and bunch of keys and left. I couldn’t pray, I was heavy hearted. Slowly I dragged my self to an unknown destination.

I was cold and shivering. I saw a very big house. Its has big trees outside so I decided to hide under the shade till the rain subsides.
“Hello are you alright” someone was tapping me to wake up. When I did I saw it was chief Badmos. When he recognize me he just said “get up and come inside with me”.

Then I knew that the Holy spirit ordered my feet to chief Badmos house. There is a God that never sleeps nor slumber.

Chief Badmos took me into his home and introduced me to his wife. His house was so beautifully decorated. Everywhere was sparkling and clean.
His wife was polite but not comfortable with my presence in her house, I had this gift of sensing when am not wanted. So I told chief Badmos that the rain had stopped falling and I want to be on my way.

He would not hear of it. He told me to go to the guest room change from my wet clothes and come back to eat after which we can talk.
Chief wanted to know what happened to me. I told him I lost my aunt and have since been fending for myself. I couldn’t pay the house rent so I was sent packing.

He told me to go and rest in the guest room. I guessed he wanted to speak to his wife. I didn’t expect any positive news because even my very own family members rejected me.
The next day after morning devotion with chiefs family (which was my first) he introduced me to his daughters yemisi and yinka. He also told me about his son Adebayo studying abroad.

They were one big happy family and I felt like an intruder. Chief Badmos told his daughters that I would be staying with them from now on and warned them to treat me like a sister. I fell on my knees and started thanking him and his wife. I was thanking him over and over and crying with joy.

I became part of the Badmos family. I heard a lot about their big brother Ade from yinka. Yinka and I became very close. Yinka is a gentle and kind girl like her Dad. Yinka always tells me she admire how beautiful I looked which I took little notice of. She taught me how to dress. Each day she would say ” oh happy how I wish I have your eyes”sometimes its my lips or Nose depending on her choice for that day.

Mrs Badmos made me do all the chores in the house. I didn’t mind, her family took me in when no one did. Yemisi was more like her mum she is proud and very arrogant. Anytime she comes back from lectures, I knew my chores for the day would double. Yinka on the other hand gives me joy. She always say ” don’t mind yemisi she is jealous she dosn’t have your looks.

As for my mum she would learn to love you one day”
Mr Badmos paid for my jamb exams. And by God’s grace I passed with a very high score that my first and second choice university gave me admission. Chief was very proud of me and my life seemed to be going on the right track.

The same day my admission letter came in, chief announced his company has asked him to head their UK branch and he would leave next month. He quickly made arrangement to pay for my registration, he gave his wife the money.

Before he left, he gave me some money for upkeep and told me to hide it well and not to tell anyone. It was funny so I laughed it off.
The day chief traveled my world came crashing. Chiefs wife told me to go in and pack my things and she never want to see my face again.

What did happy do again? Did she obey or fight back?

Hang on for the Next Episode…
