17 Chinese arrested in Osun for Illegal Mining (images)

17 Chinese were today caught and arrested in Osun state for illegally mining of Gold in Ilesha.

The illegal mining of gold at Ilesha has been going on for ages. Much of the land there has been eaten up by excavators as locals even sell their lands to these gold miners. This was discovered on a research project focusing on cocoa farming in Osun State.

In the village where this picture was taken, it was reported by a Cocoa farmer that one indigene sold an inherited farmland for just #300,000 to miners, and bought a rickety cab 🚕 with the money.
