I woke up at St.Raphael’s hospital and couldn’t remember how and when i passed out. Where are my? “i asked my mum and my husband replied instead, ” you’re in the hospital honey, relax.
i was wondering what my husband could be doing in the hospital and worst still, why his face was full of smiles. I’d pretend i didn’t hear him call me honey.
My husband had returned and met my mum but they couldn’t have much time to discuss the August visit before rushing me to the hospital.
The Doctor confirmed me pregnant and the joy in my Husband’s face held no bound.
Honey, ”are you ok?….. Hold on, David just called me honey for the second time in 3 minutes ? That would be the first time in a very long while. In my oblivion, little did i know that he already knew about the pregnancy. Unfortunately, my husband is certainly not responsible for my pregnancy.
Baby, so i am going to be a father? He asked almost chocking me as he held me tight right on my bed. My mum stood at akimbo as she watched the whole melo drama. She didn’t say a word because she already knew my husband was headed to an impasse.
How are you feeling?, “Dr. Philip asked as he placed the stethoscope on my chest. I feel fine sir, ” i replied even though i knew i was very far from feeling fine.
Congratulations Sir, you can go ahead and start buying baby things, the young Doctor joked with my husband. Hot tear dropped down my cheek as my feelings were thwarted with regrets and uncertainty.
This is the first time seeing my husband genuinely dazzled with joy and almost licked my feet in utter ecstacy.
You people would be discharged in a jiffy, Doctor told us. Sincerely, i didn’t want to leave.

Mama, we would talk about your purpose of visiting once we get home but now, you’d branch to the market to buy some soup ingredients to prepare a delicious vegetable soup for my sweet wife and my unborn lil. DAVID. He already believed the foetus would be a  boy….. Poor him!
We got home and the whole serenity looked vivacious. My confusion at this juncture had risen to the apex. What would my mum do? Would she break the bad news to my husband or would she advise we played along? Nothing seemed coherent in my brain.
My son, i know you’d be surprised at my visit, “my mum finally started talking with my husband after she finished cooking the soup.
Yes mama, but i would rather savor this food before discussing your purpose of visit mama…. Afterall, you ain’t going anytime soon, or are you?, David started being uncharacteristically jovial of a sudden.
For once, i felt like turning back the hands of time… I felt David would have made a wonderful husband and father afterall but the whole deed has been done.
My son, i really need to discuss something of great importance with you and i am afraid it might not be so wonderful as perceived, “my mum said to my husband with as she jitters.
At this juncture, David knew that all isn’t well and definitely can’t be well from my mum’s countenance.
What’s the problem mama? Is papa ok? He made a a guess.
Can i have the phone number of your pastor? “, Mama aaked. Which pastor ma, you mean our head pastor? David asked with much nervousness.
Yes,” your oga for church, “mum spoke in pidgin.
Haba, mama, are my safe? David asked almost getting angry.
From my room, i could imagine the worst. My mum definitely has come prepared to end this fiasco once and for all.
Yes mama, of course mama, i have his phone number but….
My mum cut in and requested he took him to the pastor instead….
I have something to discuss with him…..
Jesus Christ.!!!
What’s my mum about to do?
Can someone wake me from this sleep?
