“Days had turned to weeks, weeks to months and Months painfully turned to years”, since some staff of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state were gainfully employed without receiving salaries for more than 3 years.
This is the Sorry and disastrous story of some group of staff who were employed in the institution since 2019/2020.
Jkcyno news gathered from the aggrieved and somewhat helpless staff of the institution that the battle was majorly as a result of the IPPIS refusal to capture them into their payment system such that they’d start receiving salaries like other of their colleagues.

According to them, the vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS, who had often reassured them that he was on top of the situation as he frequents Abuja in a bid to engage the IPPIS personnel to come capture his staff. All his said effort, they’d say had proven abortive as the lights at the end of the tunnel seemed so uncharacteristically dim.
The big question is, “what really is the problem?
What really could be the sin of these staff?
Why is IPPIS so insensitive to the plight of these ordinary Nigerians whose only sin was to gain employment in the school.
One of the affected staff who pleaded anonymity broke down in tears while responding to our questions upon visiting the institution last weekend, stating that some members of the uncaptured staff are already dead due to untold hardship for over 3 years and counting without receiving a kobo from the government as salary . Some are currently confused and depressed as they don’t know their next line of action as most resigned from their previous work, relocated to Awka to start a new life as a staff of the institution.
