It has become expedient to ask questions to the Federal Government as to what the South-Easterners have done to deserve such unnecessary evil being meted to them in almost everything in the country. One may ask, “kedu ihe ụmụ ịgbọ mere”? (what have Igbos done)!
If you haven’t traveled by road from Lagos State to the south-East for the past few years, you’d never understand the plight of “ụmụ-Igbo” plying that route being subjected to severe extortion, police brutality and harassment all in the name of checkpoints.
Ordinarily, one would assume that the Abuja-Kaduna highway being ravaged by Bandits and kidnappers would be the exact route to experience these massive checkpoints than what the “igbos” experience while traveling.
Unfortunately, the bad roads which had been their best ally for mounting these illegal check points have been repaired reasonably atleast to Edo State. They now resort to gathering of massive firewood and tree trunks to block the roads leading to serious gridlocks and waste of man hour….
Such a pitiable situation……. Such a shame!!
