Exclusive : Real situation from Unizik student’s protest

The students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state had staged a protest earlier today to vent their anger on the alleged increment in their school fees.

Several students were seen en-masse after their truncated morning lectures in a well coordinated serial protest which saw most of them with placards matching towards the school administrative block.

You’d recall that jkcyno blog reported that Unizik Management reacted to the Fees increment as false and urged people to ignore the rumors flying on the social media about the purported school fees hike.

However, Jkcyno media crew stormed the school environment to verify and grant some interview to the protesting students.

One of the students from the guidance and counseling, education faculty complained that their school fees was hiked from 22,500 naira to 55,500 naira and recently increased to above 70,000 naira which angered most of the students.

According to her, they were meant to embark on a protest when it was hiked to 55,500 but COVID-19 lock down hampered it. To their greatest dismay, it was still hiked to above 70,000 this semester and they couldn’t take it anymore considering that Unizik is a federal university.

She also lamented that even General studies (GS courses) now costs 6,000 to register for a course.

However, the school management is yet to repond to these contradictory statements from the students.
