News Band learnt that the demolition exercise is to allow for renovation of the Assembly premises.
Pundits, however, have observed that the demolition may not be unconnected with the recent crisis rocking the state.

Honourable Ehie, it could be recalled is one of the four lawmakers in Governor Fubara’s camp that scuttled the impeachment attempt on the governor.
An anonymous observer just revealed that following the court judgement yesterday, some lawmakers stole and hid the Mace, apparently intending to use it to impeach the duo of Hon. Ehie and Governor Fubara, thereby prompting Fubara to destroy the whole edifice to make it impossible to find the Mace or sit and hold proceedings.
