Why Igbos Must Not Succumb to “Protest Boycott” Narratives

As the much anticipated August 1 nationwide protest against the hardship due to bad economic policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration which has Plunged more Nigerians into severe multidimensional poverty draws closer, the tension heightens.

I was rather taken aback by the call by some people, warning or in some cases advising IGBOS to stay away from the planned protest.

fa a talụ akwụ kọọ ka eze fa dị”? (did they eat palmnuts or is the stain on their teeth natural)!!!

Some have argued that, if the Igbos join in the Protest, they would single out the Igbos and blame them for any possible damage that may result from the protest.

It actually started from a national call for the Southeast to boycott the protest and allow only the Northerners protest.

It later became slashed to, “Igbos in lagos” shouldn’t join in the Protest because they labeled the EndSars Protest an Igbo affair.

Ordinarily, some Igbos would succumb to this emotional blackmail and get hoodwinked into believing this unfortunate misinformation.

Now, follow me, let’s walk…. 🚶

What gave some people the right to believe that some people deserve the right to be more Nigerian than some others?

Some Igbos are gradually getting GASLIGHTED into believing they are less of a Nigerian than the Northerners or Westerners…

Now let’s start with Lagos, was Endsars an Igbo affair?

Nope…

Let me even stretch it down to the first military coup on the 15th of January, 1966….

They tagged it an Igbo coup…

Was it really an Igbo coup?

Ofcourse Nope…

You see, it’s not today that they started scapegoating the Igbos…

Must Igbos continue playing the victim card or ignore them totally and continue being the great people we are?

Can you kindly read what was written above?

“No Yoruba person will ever say Pim to Atiku for backing the protest cus we fear for the Northerners. If na Peter Obi, we will find our voices”

You see, even though they knew, Omoyele Sowore was the key sponsors of the Protest, they would rather ignore, even though Atiku openly endorsed it, they would ignore but get “erection” once Peter Obi’s name is mentioned.

For how long must you continue to allow Others GASLIGHT you?

If the narrative about SOUTH EAST staying away from the protest is because the Northerners often vote tribe over competence (hence the need to punish them) it’s more understandable but using the word IGBOS stay away because they will destroy their properties in lagos is preposterous..

That’s pure rubbish and a Ploy to keep making Igbos feel inferior.

Igbos are not COWARDS and will not allow fellow Nigerians make them feel intimated.

I feel so glad that Peter Obi threatened to sue Bayo Onanuga for his Bigotry statements towards him. Even if nothing comes out it, atleast, we must challenge such useless narratives.

Tomorrow, he wouldn’t make careless statements.

Dear Igbos, you’re great people, known for bravely..

The nationwide protest is for all Nigerians and not for some Nigerians…

If you wish not to join, the best you can do is stop dissuading others.

Igbos wake up… Smell the coffee ☕
