STUDENT ASSAULT ALERT ⚠
A 400L Faculty of Pharmacy, Agulu-Campus student and course-rep of his constituency was reportedly assaulted to the point of him losing consciousness by a Lecturer and HOD of the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology who goes by the name – Dr. Malachy Ugwu.
The reports have it that the Course rep collapsed after being slapped by the HOD over his possession and handling of Examination Papst Questions to a couple of 200L junior colleague. It is worth noting that at the break of this news, multiple reports from Students on the Campus suggest that Dr Malachy Ugwu and a certain Dr Ugo are notorious for man-handling students.
Exclusive information reaching our desk had it below :
“The said victim (student), a 400L student had gathered some past questions of the accused HOD, whose course is said to be a” no go area” course. He along side his friends solved the past questions and organized a tutorial to teach the 200 level students… After the tutorial, the students reportedly performed very well in that course… This led to the lecturer to start investigating what happened. He later realized the victim had organized the tutorial. This obviously irked him which made him invite the student to his office.

Upon coming to the HOD’s office, he was presented with an EXAM MALPRACTICE FORM to sign even before allowing him to talk… After much coercion, he was forced to sign the form.
The HOD demanded for him Phone which he gave him and upon opening it, he changed the password and seized the phone.
One thing led to another, the HOD assaulted him which made him lose consciousness. He was later driven to the school clinic at Awka campus for treatment.
The lecturer is still in possession of the student’s phone till today 23/09/2023. He switches the phone on when he feels like. Even the family cannot reach the student except through friends.”
The above statements were from the relative of the victim.
According to information reaching us, the students of Pharmacy, Agulu campus staged a protest yesterday in the school environment demanding their voice to be heard regarding this incidence.
We are strictly against assaults of any Student and in thesame light call on relevant authorities to come to the aid of this Student.
