The Ugly Implications of ECOWAS’ current situation with Tinubu as their Chairman

ECOWAS was formed by the signing of the Treaty of Lagos in 1975. Back then, Yakubu Gowon was in charge.

Niger, Mali & Burkina Faso pulling out of the ECOWAS with immediate effect, it leaves Nigeria vulnerable to external & Economic aggression from those fringes.

This is F9 on Bola Tinubu’s part. It took Bola just 8 months to destroy a 49 year-old regional body.

A rookie & a pawn leaves a country vulnerable to the geopolitics & the regional engineering of that era.

Niger is looking to start exporting oil from Benin pipeline. Niger, Mali could pose a threat to Nigeria’s Trans-Saharan gas pipeline to Algeria. So I hope I am just being an alarmist here, I really hope so!

In the unlikely event of a WWIII, Nigeria will be surrounded by likely foes who are Russia’s ally. If Mali & Niger cough, the Nigeria-Algeria Gas pipeline could be affected as well.

A modern-day Axis Powers of (Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, the Arab League with the Houthis, Hezbollah behind their backs) up against the Allied Forces of America, France, Britain, Australia, Canada, etc.

Where will Nigeria stand with its non-aligned policy on foreign relations. These are dangerous times, & Nigeria must step up its game on the global arena. Everyone is almost taking up a vantage position, & charting a new course for themselves.

Unless Nigeria can play both sides & survive the Game of Thrones, “he” must invent itself somehow!

The old Alliances & Pacts are being severed, & new alliances formed.

Tinubu is treading on dangerous waters. Nigeria is becoming too exposed in the region. BAT is ill-equipped & inexperienced for the statesmanship & the craft needed to pilot Nigeria on the world stage at this fast-changing time of multilateralism.

Bola has failed to engineer a better deal for Nigeria on the global scene.

He excels in local politics but fail in governance & in foreign relations. The illegitimacy hanging over his neck is all the more reason he must look for the best Nigerian diplomats.

South Africa is paying attention to Nigeria’s new found weakness since 2015; the Land of the Zulus is flexing its new found soft power on the world stage. SA is waxing stronger on the continent & positioning itself as a leader in Africa.

Obasanjo did not embark on a robust Foreign Policy Agenda for Nigeria to watch Muhammadu Buhari & Bola Tinubu fail. Nigeria must sit up or it could cost the country dearly. You have enough troubles at home-front as it is; you do not need to add external troubles to the list.

Nigeria is simply moping, & hoping that America & its Allies will secure a better deal for Nigeria, in the unlikely event of a global conflict.

Nigeria needs very skilled maestros in the games globalists play. The Israeli-Palestinian Gaza War, the Russia-Ukraine War, the conflict in the Indo-Pacific, & the Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso ECOWAS brawl so close to home, they won’t go away anytime soon.

Bola must step up his game; Nigeria is too big to be play catch-ups on the continent.
