The Joke of a Subsidy Removal Palliative in Nigeria

I wish to start by asking, “are Nigerians truly cursed or are we the cause”?

This rhetoric question may not necessarily translate to how most Nigerians actually voted at the just concluded Presidential election… At least, majority voted the seemingly right candidate before Mahmood Yakubu and Festus Okoye decided to steal their mandate by 4am while they were all sleeping.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu carelessly yanked off Fuel Subsidy during his inaugural speech not withstanding that the subsidies for two months were still remaining.

Obviously, it wasn’t part of their plans as his aides confirmed it wasn’t contained in his infamous speech manuscript.

By now, most of us who actually advocated ferociously for the subsidy to be removed have now seen that what actually needed to go or be removed was “the corruption bedeviled” in the oil sector but not the subsidy itself.

Need i remind you that fuel subsidy is the only reasonable direct benefit the poorest, richest, average Nigerians still gained from her government not until APC happened ?

Subsidy is Gone, he said.

Fast forward… Tinubu and his team announced a Palliative measure of 8,000 naira conditional transfer to Nigerians to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

He actually also removed the subsidy on Power(electricity) too and education although most Nigerians never noticed.

It means, in Nigeria currently, the government actually subsidizes nothing for her citizens. Even in Europe and America or even China 🇨🇳, the government still subsidizes one or two things for the citizens.

The paltry 8k Palliative announcement was greeted with a massive backlash which made them to retract.

“Government of trial and error….”

ifechi fotelu, anyị afụ” (what day begets, we see)

They act before they think obviously..

If some Nigerians had known, they would have accepted the 8k in peace if only they knew the next step would be more demeaning.

“kedu ife ụmụ Nigeria ji isi kote?” (what has Nigerians done wrong)

Following the backlash of the 8k Palliative, Tinubu alongside his almighty economic team deemed it wiser to rather share rice 🍚 to Nigerians and 5B naira half loan to the state governments.

THE BREAK DOWN OF THE FUNNY PALLIATIVE.

1. How on earth did these economic think tanks come up with the sharing of rice 🍚 as a direct substitute for fuel subsidy removal?

Wait…. Are they really kidding me here?

Where did they get those rice 🍚 they are distributing?

Obviously, you can’t possibly tell me they are all locally produced rice, hence, they imported most of them.

“Nne ji nke afụ iche” (that’s entirely different).

2. How on earth did they intend sharing it, i mean the state Governors?

My dear people of God… Watch the video above and have pity on Nigerians…

Just as i preempted… No one would get up to a 5kg of rice… It wasn’t even up to a bowl of rice.

Did you see how they were trying to feed humans like poultry 🐔?

This is Lagos with a massive population..

APC government…. So, this is the world class replacement for the subsidy you removed?

Even 2% of the entire population that would get the rice would go home with it, probably cook it that night, eat it raw or with red oil & salt then go hungry again for only God knows when…

In kwara state, 3 communities were meant to share 1/2 bag of rice 🍚… Yes, you heard me well… Half bag of rice.

Watch Video Below..

Close to 100 days since sneaking into Aso rock… This is the best they could do….

Tụfịakwa….. Ihe nkea ọ bụ dị ọgwụ?

Some states are yet to commence their distribution but trust me, it can’t be any better as no household would get more than a 5kg at most..

MY CANDID ADVICE FOR FREE….

1. We all have seen that there is actually no direct substitute for Fuel Subsidy removal but doing the right things first.

If they had used all these Trillions they are squandering on rice 🍚 + 5B naira loans to Governors to fix even if it’s Port Harcourt and Warri refineries..

NIGERIANS would have been happier knowing that hope is coming…

2. Stop all these rice sharing and money sharing madness and get back those money and rice immediately.

3. Declare state of emergency on Our 4 Moribund refineries……. (ozigbo ozigbo)

4. Give licenses to as many modular refineries as possible immediately… Ensure to sell crude to them in Naira not dollars 💵.

5. Refine our fuel locally…..

It’s actually through Fuel and Power subsidy that our economy would try reviving and not all those child’s play they are currently doing.

I have more advice but….

Ka ọ dịgodi m otú a for now..
