[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he first two-weeks of my post Enugu sojourn was spent in total seclusion. Decimating myself all by myself, nothing would give me much relief.

In total annihilation, i made sure Bro. Mathew never had any access to me. I changed my SIM card and replaced it with my alternate line which he never had.

Of a truth, his thoughts tormented me. I struggled so hard to get him off my mind.

Things had fallen apart and the centre of my heart couldn’t stand sentry anymore.

Why would loosing my virginity torment me this way?, one would imagine.
It wasn’t necessarily because of the sex i had but for the solemn vow i made to God to keep myself till i get married.

Now, you’d understand why my devious behaviour troubled my heart so severely.

“Obioma, “you look so beautiful this morning, so vivacious, are you done mourning your beloved grandmother?, Jennifer told me after our quiz on a Monday morning.

I had lied to her that i lost my grandmother who was so dear to me…. I couldn’t think of a better true-lies.
Jennifer was my closest friend, we spoke about everything but i couldn’t find myself telling her about my stupid act…… She innocently believed me after all.

I was beginning to feel better, my life was gradually returning back to me. My moment of atonement was over and it was time to move on.

It was few weeks to our first semester examination. Lecturers were becoming more torrid and intense as most lazy lecturers were trying to rush us n a bid to complete their course outline.

One very hot afternoon, i had rushed down from the faculty library to the school canteen after reading for a long time…. I was famished.

I needed to eat and get ready for Mr. Akpado’s lectures before retiring for the day.

Remember, i had failed myself once by shamefully travelling to Enugu to disgrace myself, i couldn’t afford to fail any of my examination, so i read like a canker worm….

The lecture hall was filled to the brim as all the year one students were quietly waiting for our lecturer.

Suddenly, i felt some serious headache, my eyes started turning seriously that i had to squat….. I doubted if anyone noticed what i was passing through, not even Jennifer.

Before i could think of the next step to take, i passed out. Most of the students scampered, some thought i had died whilst some were still trying to decipher what happened.

“obiọma, Obiọma!!!! Jennifer my best friend rushed to pull me up….. I didn’t know where i was because i had fainted.

I opened my eyes and found myself in our H. O. D’s office almost unclad…. Jennifer, Gladys and Cynthia my three good friends flanked me as our H. O. D held my head backwards.

The ceiling fan was at its highest. I could sense the great relief on their faces as i woke up. My clothes were drenched already most probably from the water they poured on me trying to revive me.

They couldn’t take me to the school clinic either because the Non-accademic staff union were on strike. It crippled most of the school activities.

I was lucky to have had a female H. O. D who is also a medical doctor. She gave me the first aid i needed and was glad i came back to life.

“my daughter,” relax, everything is ok now, she tried calming me down as she saw how fidgety i was.

“What happened?,” i managed to utter.

Jennifer told me i fainted in the lecture hall and they had to bring me to her office in a bid to revive me.

“Like seriously!… me ? Faint ?… How?….”

I couldn’t believe what really happened. Never had i witnessed such a strange ailment. Could i be convulsive?…. Seriously, i was worried.

“like i said, there is not much imminent danger for now but i would strongly advise you visit the hospital, ” my H. O. D advised.

” Where does your parents stay?, she asked.

“Onitsha, i responded.

You need to travel right away since it’s still half past 3 o’clock.

Jennifer and Gladys thanked her as they managed to take me to the hostel to pick my few things.

They took me to the park and made sure i left for Onitsha safely before returning back to the hostel….
