In a recent statement, the Transmission Company of Nigeria informed that the nationwide blackout experienced yesterday was caused by the organized Labour’s planned strike, leading to the shutdown of the National Grid.

Even though the Nigerian Labour Congress has ended the strike, progress in restoring the grid has been slow. Only Shiroro Hydropower is gradually increasing its output to supply the transmission lines.
