Nigeria’s biggest carrier, Air Peace, says it did not disrespect the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero. The airline said this while responding to a letter of complaint written by a cousin to the Emir, Prince Isa Bayero. The Dan Iyan of Kano who is the district head of Dawakin kudu, Yusuf Bayero, has died in the early hours of Sunday. Yusuf was said to have died after a protracted illness. A source in the Kano emirate confirmed his death. The Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II, is dead. He died on Saturday today at Nassarwa Specialist Hospital at about 4:45pm after a brief illness. His Rano emirate is one of four new emirates created in Kano in the wake of the balkanisation of the Kano emirate. He was reported to have been hospitalised on Friday though details of his ailment were uncertain. The Kano state government has announced Mallam Muhammad Sanusi’s dethronement as Emir of Kano. The traditional ruler’s dethronement, according to the Director General, Media and Communications, Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai, was unanimously approved by the Kano State Executive Council.
