Calamity was averted yesterday 25th July, 2023 at Amawbia in front of St Matthew Catholic Church, Anambra state at about 5.40pm as some gun men that was later identified as operatives from Anambra state vigilante services terrorized the entire vicinity dispensing more than 50 bullets on a truck.
Trouble started when a driver of a Mercedes 1814 seal body with registration number DKD 07 YE was turning in front of St Matthew Catholic Church and on a reverse slightly hit the front bumper of the sienna vehicle of the security operatives.
The driver about alighting from the vehicle probably to see what happened or apologize was descended on by more than twenty of the vigilante operatives among them was a woman. They beat the driver mercilessly to a stupor with the gun boots, belt, koboko and other weapons with blood gushing out from all angles of the man’s body.

Then they faced the vehicle and started shooting at the vehicle. They shot and destroyed the man’s tyres, shot his windscreen and completely destroyed it. The vehicle radiator was completely destroyed with their bullets.
Infact they should have killed the man if not that the passers-by challenged them though they threatened the passers-by with guns and started shooting into the air.
It was the timely intervention of the States Hon. Commissioner for home affairs Hon. Chikodili Anarah that saved the situation though the vigilante operatives were first hostile to him and did not want to hear anything from him.
Later the Hon. Commissioner took the badly battered driver to UPS pharmacy in front of the traffic light, Nwalusi junction (Bye pass junction) for treatment.
It was a very terrible situation and an eyesore. People at distance were running for safety thinking that it was the unknown gunmen or bandits on rampage.
How can people hired to protect and safeguard innocent citizens be harassing and traumatizimg the people in such a horrible manner? These are people that are being paid with our taxes.
Governor Charles Soludo should watch it. He is seriously deviating from the normal protection of lives and properties of the citizenry. Anambra people should watch it!
