Africa might probably be waking up to the realization that democracy might actually not be working for them?
Could it be that the western world have seen the weaknesses of Africa’s leadership and leaders such that they want to capitalize on that to keep exploiting Africans?
There are currently 6 African countries under the Military takeover /rule.
1. Burkina Faso 🙁 since January, 2022) Capt. Ibrahim Traore is the youngest of them all. A 35year old Military leader of Burkina Faso who has received strong backing by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
2. Chad : (since April 2021) : Mahamat Idriss Deby who came into Power via a military coup is surprisingly the person talking to Niger about coup.
The ECOWAS response came as crowds in Niamey burned French flags and stoned the former colonial power’s mission, drawing tear gas from police.
Deby, who came to power in 2021 after a coup, met his Nigerian counterpart Bola Tinubu on the sidelines of the summit and volunteered to speak to the military leaders in Niger. Hours later, Niger’s state TV showed Deby arriving and meeting with coup leaders.
3. Guinea (since September 2021) :
On 5 September 2021, President of Guinea Alpha Condé was captured by the country’s armed forces in a coup d’état after gunfire in the capital, Conakry. Special forces commander Mamady Doumbouya released a broadcast on state television announcing the dissolution of the constitution and government.
4. Mali (since August 2020) :
The 2021 Malian coup d’état began on the night of 24 May 2021 when the Malian Army led by Vice President AssimiGoïta[4] captured President Bah N’daw,[5][6] Prime Minister Moctar Ouane and Minister of Defence Souleymane Doucouré.
Assimi Goïta, the head of the junta that led the 2020 Malian coup d’état, announced that N’daw and Ouane were stripped of their powers and that new elections would be held in 2022.
It is the country’s third coup d’état in ten years, following the 2012 and 2020 military takeovers, with the latter having happened only nine months earlier.
5. Sudan (since October, 2021) :
On 25 October 2021, the Sudanese military, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, took control of the Government of Sudan in a military coup. At least five senior government figures were initially detained.[7] Civilian Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok refused to declare support for the coup and on 25 October called for popular resistance;[8] he was moved to house arrest on 26 October.[9]
Internet outages were reported. Later the same day, the Sovereignty Council was dissolved, a state of emergency was put in place,[10] and a majority of the Hamdok Cabinet and a number of pro-government supporters were arrested.[11] As of 5 November 2021, the list of those detained included “government ministers, members of political parties, lawyers, civil society activists, journalists, human rights defenders, and protest leaders”, who were held in secret locations, without access to their families or lawyers.
