Reason Onyeka Onwenu was Buried in Lagos

The late Nigerian, Music icon, Onyeka Onwenu was buried in Lagos (pictures) and most people have been asking why she was buried in lagos rather than South East (Ala Igbo). This post is to provide a possible resemblance to an answer to that query.

This boy has been a nuisance, this explanation was actually because of him..

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t descend to the mud for a rough slush-play with demented p!gs like this 👇 but it begs for urgency that I put this out.

Onyeka Onwenu wasn’t buried in Lagos because of some “imaginary” IPOB activities in the South East, as this nonentity crassly claimed.

For the records, Onyeka Onwenu hailed from Ndi Aniche Obinetiti, Arondizuogu, in Ideato North LGA of Imo state.

This, of course, thrashes the uninformed, foolhardy claim by the “bleached urchin” up there 👆 that Mrs Onyeka hailed from Obosi, in Anambra state.

Onyeka Onwenu got married to General Ogunlende, a Lagos-resident Yoruba Muslim. He paid her bride-price and married her according to customs and the tradition of the land.

The marriage produced two young men, Tijani Charles and Ibrahim (now Abraham), both alive and kicking.

Onyeka Onwenu’s two children.

Though, the marriage crashed, owing to private family differences, Onyeka remained devoted to family principles.

She would go on to live most part of her life in Lagos, with her two boys. Coincidentally, she d!ed in Lagos.

As the (Igbo) custom demands, when a woman dies, she’s buried in her husband’s place – unless, of course, there’s a reversal of marriage rites, where the man returns the bride price and breaks ties with the woman.

In Onyeka’s case, she separated with her husband. But in the eyes of tradition, she’s for the man (whom she birthed kids for). So, it’s certain she’d be buried in her husband’s place.

In Lagos, deceased residents are mostly buried in the cemetery. There’s no question to the fact that Onyeka was buried in Ikoyi Cemetery, in Lagos, for this case.

By the way, it’s necessary to state that Ideato North, the birth-home of Mrs Onyeka isn’t a stronghold of the IPOB. Granted, there have been a spike of insecurity in the LGA. However, Arondizuogu, Onyeka’s village is a safe zone.

Obosi, an Anambra town, isn’t even near the areas suffering tiny bites of insecurity in the state. So, if there ever existed a chance that Onyeka was from Obosi, insecurity wouldn’t have been a reason for her to be buried in Lagos.

Lastly, it’s important to warn he-g0ats and accurs£d lowl!fes, like this Aliyu guy, to accord Madam Onyeka, the “Elegant Stallion,” maximum respect that her “rich, loving memory” she deserves.
