The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Alumni association held their reunion and award night which featured high dignitaries from all spheres of life under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. Jerry Gana.
In his opening remark, The National President of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Alumni association, Engr Kingsley Emeka Nwafor welcomed everyone who deemed it fit to make it to the maiden event as he promises a wonderful evening to the guests.
His excellency, Mr. Peter Obi who was amongst the keynote speakers elaborated on the importance of savings being imbibed as part of us as he had a detailed and didactic lecture on how he was able to save money for “ndị Anambra” after his tenure. The former governor of Anambra State lauded the gigantic “Building project” the Alumni body is about to start and promised to key in to make it a reality. He also reminded the guests that the greatness of every institution is highly dependent on the strength of their Alumni body.
The Vice chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS in his remark praised the Alumni body for making such uncommon initiative and promised to support the project and the alumni body as they make progress.
Professor Oby Orogbu, dean, faculty of management sciences was the chairperson, organizing committee as HRM Igwe Sir Ben Emeka (igwe Umunri) was royal father of the day.
Highlights of the event was the award presentation to some worthy and seasoned individuals for their achievements and humanitarian acts towards the institution and Nigeria at large.

Chief Dickson Orji….1994 set of political science department who eventually donated 30 Million naira for the singular purpose of the Alumi Building project.
Obinna Iyiegbu, (Obi Cubana), Chief Honourable Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, Peter Obi, Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief Ebere Uzoezie, Chief Mrs Adaora Umeoji as Distinguished corporate woman of the year, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, High chief Obiora Okonkwo, DCP Cyriacus Nwabueze Ebenchukwu, Chief Tony Okonkwo as most supportive individual to the Alumni amongst others.
