Atiku Abubakar who was at Arewa house, Kaduna alongside his vice presidential candidate in the presence of everyone made a very unfortunate and nefarious statement which shouldn’t have been made.
Atiku when asked by the leader of the Northern Elders forum, Dr. Akeem Datti-Babba Ahmed why the North should vote for him. Atiku Abubakar responded by saying that the Northerners should vote him because he is from the North. That the Northerners don’t need a leader from Yoruba or Igbo extraction.

Atiku at this point still thinks that using ethnic and religious incisive campaign is the best way to winning elections.
Unlike Atiku, Peter Obi the presidential candidate of the Labour party in a similar gathering had admonished Nigerians not to vote for him because his from Igbo extraction but vote for him because he is a Nigerian. None should vote via ethnic divide.

Fortunately, most Northerns who have witnessed that having a president from your tribe doesn’t necessarily mean you would be sole beneficiary of good governance as Buhari has shown them the opposite of what good governance is.
