It’s almost like a tradition that every household eats and cooks rice on Sunday. Most importantly, it must be rice and stew.
Most people grew up to witness this funny tradition and have upheld it ever since. Never have i seen a household that cooks pounded yam and soup on Sunday to say the least. Maybe, in Nigeria though.
However, to be fair to the poor rice, i think Sunday is a special day that deserves some special attributes which also involve unitary feeding style, hence, the general acceptance of eating of rice exclusively on Sundays. Sundays carry special aura and feelings which makes it stand out. Rice makes it grand.
No one can actually say when this norm started but most people grew up to witness it and hand it down to their offsprings.
Something in me is telling me it was handed over to us by Father Abraham… Lol
90% of households in Nigeria eat rice every Sunday but i want to emphatically state that it’s not a compulsory but rather a generally accepted tradition.
Today, i had wanted to cook yam and beans but ended up cooking rice and stew….guess i’m entrapped already . Lol
What did you cook today?
