Anambra state government has suspended Mbazulike Iloka, the newly sworn-in Transition Committee Chairman, of Nnewi North Local Government Area of the State.
In a suspension letter signed by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Tonycollins Nwabuwanne, Iloka’s suspension is as a result of the sudden death of his wife, Chidiebere.
Iloka on Sunday, allegedly beat his wife to death after she reportedly failed to stop him from picking some ladies suspected to be his side chicks at an event they attended on Saturday.
However, Iloka denied beaten his wife to death, claiming that she slumped and died, a statement the deceased’s family.
Family sources hinted that when they arrived at the scene, they found Chidiebere’s corpse on the ground with marks of bruises and cuts on her body.
The letter announcing his suspension, read partly;
“Following the sad and sudden death of your wife, late Mrs Chidiebere Iloka, on the 7 of August, 2022, there has been a massive public outcry over the circumstances leading to the cause of her death, including alleged possible homicide.
- “While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you should step aside to allow unfettered investigations and justice.”
