Celebs Who Almost Lost Their Lives When Acting A Movie(video)

The life of an actor is something that many of us crave, and when you think about it, why wouldn’t we? Actors make a ton of money, they are adored by millions of people all over the world, and to top it all off they don’t really even have to work for a living. All they really do is just hang out on set and get in front of the camera and act every once in a while. And seriously, how hard is that to do? Well usually, not that hard at all, but every once in a while, actors do things on set that they regret, sometimes because they almost cost them their lives. Yes, sometimes actors on television and movies almost die when they are performing and doing stunts, and when you think about it, that really isn’t worth being a big star now is it? It doesn’t really matter a whole lot how famous you are if you end up dying on set now, does it? Talk about something that people might regret. I would imagine a lot of these famous actors thought twice before doing something dangerous on camera again.

Here are 18 stars that did stunts they regret, but not as much as they could have. Some of them almost died!

1 Gilligan Was Almost Attacked By A Lion

Is there anyone that doesn’t remember Gilligan? Even those of you who are kind of young probably remember the show Gilligan’s Island in which Gilligan was always getting into some kind of trouble.

One time, Gilligan, who was played by the actor Bob Denver, almost was attacked by a lion on set, but before the lion could get to him, its trainer tackled it in mid-air.

This is obviously a good thing because if you ever looked at Gilligan’s physique, there is no doubt he would have been able to take on a lion and survive. That dude was really skinny, and you know being killed by a lion probably wouldn’t have done a lot for the ratings of the show down the line.

2 Sylvester Stallone Was In Intensive Care

When Sylvester Stallone starred in Rocky IV, he wanted things to look as realistic as they could, so he told his costar Dolph Lundgren to punch him as hard as he could. This was not the most brilliant idea as Lundgren is enormous and powerful.

He hit Stallone so hard, he had to go to intensive care in the hospital and stayed there for over a week.

I’m not sure, but I can imagine that Stallone never told anyone “punch me as hard as you can” ever again after that, and I am pretty positive he never did it again with Dolph Lundgren. We get it Sly, you’re tough as nails, you don’t have to prove it by having people put you in the hospital. Especially when they are as big as Dolph Lundgren.

3 Jackie Chan Dislocated His Pelvis

Jackie Chan is known for doing his own stunts in his movies and there wasn’t much that he isn’t willing to try, and as an amazing athlete, he has done most of his stunts without a hitch. This was not so true when he starred in Police Story.

He cracked his seventh and eighth vertebrae and dislocated his pelvis when he attempted to jump off a roof and grab a pole that he was supposed to slide down.

One might think that this would have caused him to be more careful in the future, but he continued to do his own stunts, although at this point, he is older and doesn’t do a whole lot of movies anymore.  I mean come on, he is Jackie Chan, after all, he isn’t scared of doing his own stunts!

4 Halle Barry Couldn’t Catch Her Breath

Halle Barry has long been thought of as one of the most beautiful actresses in the world, which is one of the reasons she was cast in the James Bond flick Die Another Day. We all know that only the hottest women get to be Bond girls, although Halle is certainly not just a pretty face, she is a good actress too.  At one point, she was involved in a steamy scene with Pierce Brosnan that involved them feeding each other fruit.

Well, Halle started choking on the fruit and Brosnan had to give her the Heimlich maneuver to save her.

I would imagine that probably killed the romance pretty quickly. There isn’t much that ends a romantic evening quicker than someone almost choking to death.

5 Leonardo DiCaprio Got Too Into It

Leonardo DiCaprio was starring in the movie Django Unchained when his role called for him to slam his hand down on a table. This is all well and good, but the table happened to be glass and DiCaprio hit it so hard, he broke the table and cut up his hand in the process.

He ended up needing to get medical attention, but before he did, he finished the scene.

This is cool if you are the director and trying to save money and get your filming done on time, but if you’re the guy bleeding all over the place, you might want to stop and get yourself checked out. But then again, DiCaprio is one of the most successful actors in the world for a reason, and dedication is one of them.

6 Charlize Theron Fell On Her Neck

This one is really scary. When Charlize Theron was starring in the movie Æon Flux she had a really bad fall, to the point that the movie had to stop filming for 8 weeks and doctors were not even sure if she would ever have full mobility again.  Sometimes, it might seem that these stars are not in any danger when they are filming big-budget movies, but the thing is, that is just not true. Everyone working on a movie, even the professionals that make their living designing stunts and making sure they go okay are just human beings after all, and all it takes is one little mistake and some of these stars could lose their lives. Just ask Charlize if you don’t believe me, she knows!

7 Isla Fischer Had A Magic Trick Go Wrong

When Isla Fischer starred in the movie Now You See Me, there was a scene where her character was supposed to be tied up and in a water tank while trying to do a trick. What ended up happening was that she almost drowned for real, but because the crew knew that was what was supposed to be happening in the scene, it took a while before they realized that she was actually in danger and tried to save her.

Thankfully, she was able to untie herself and escape, which ironically was exactly what was supposed to happen in the movie.

Isla is really lucky that she got out of that tank alive, and so is the crew. Can you imagine how awful that would have been for everyone?

8 Jennifer Lawrence Couldn’t Breathe

Say it ain’t so! When Jennifer Lawrence played Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series,

she almost didn’t make it out of a tunnel she was running through because the fog machine malfunctioned and completely filled the tunnel with smoke which caused her to almost suffocate before she was rescued.

This is the thing with these kinds of stunts, one never really never knows what is going to happen. You might think something like running through a tunnel when a fog machine is rolling isn’t anything to worry about, but sometimes it can be. If you don’t believe me then ask Jennifer Lawrence, once she catches her breath that is.
