Comparing Goodluck Jonathan’s Minimum wage & Tinubu’s Minimum wage

It’s always good to bring things to comparative context for the sake of defusing ignorance.

You’d recall that Bola Tinubu Approves 70k New Minimum wage for Nigerian workers yesterday after a prolonged negotiations with the NLC & TUC who surprisingly made U-turn, Sings Tinubu’s praises (video).

Some praise singers who never reasons rationally have started making silly comparisons.

Let’s do this…

Comparing the minimum wage Goodluck Jonathan, GEJ paid during his tenure as the president of Nigeria to that of Tinubu is a disrespect to everything good governance is all

When GEJ paid #18,000 as minimum wage.
A bag of rice was #7,500, you can even get it for as low as #7000.

The #18,000 GEJ paid to Nigerian workers as minimum wage can get you 2 bags of rice, and u will still be left with #3000 to buy other foodstuffs needed in a home.

Let’s not forget that the $1 to Naira was #165. GEJ was paying $109 as minimum wage to Nigerian workers in 2012-2015.
Let’s also not forget that In 2014, under GEJ, Nigeria was No,1 on Africa’s largest economies growing by 7% annually.

When Buhari paid #30,000 as minimum wage.
A bag of Rice was #18,000. The #30,000 Buhari paid Nigerian workers as minimum wage, can get u a bag of rice, and u will still be left with #12,000, to use and buy other foodstuffs needed at home, and also $1 to Naira was #360. Buhari was paying $83 as minimum wage to Nigerian workers.

Now that Tinubu has finally decided to pay #70,000 as minimum wage to Nigerian workers.
A bag of rice is currently at #72,000 – #80,000.
The #70,000 u are “Thanking” Akanbii for, cannot even get u a bag of Rice, or even cater for ur own personal needs and that of ur family’s, it can’t last 2 weeks or 3, for u alone to manage with, talk more of lasting 1 week to 2 weeks for a family of 4 or 5.
Let’s not forget that the exchange rate of $1 to naira is #1627 ( correct me if I’m wrong ).
Tinubu is paying $43 as minimum wage to Nigerian workers!
So @RealAdeshina what are u thanking “Akanbii” for? Coz I have not seen anything he have done that is worth a barest “Thank You” from a Nigerian to him?
