Biafra Remembrance Day, Images and memories (pictures)

Today is Biafra Heroes Remembrance Day.

Today the defunct Biafrans remember all who gave their lives for a people and a country that could have been.

There was indeed a country.

Today has absolutely nothing to do with IPOB agitations for sovereignty. Don’t ever get it twisted. It has everything to do with the Igbos as a whole.

30th of May is a day set aside to remember the fallen heroes, the little kids that suffered from kwashiokor, the slained women, the pogrom, the unthinkable and bizarre massacre of the Igbos during the Civil War.

We shall NEVER forget these terrible events and they must NEVER happen again. No matter how much we disagree,  no matter how the government try to obliterate these events from the Nigerian History, we still remember.

My mother lost her uncle, my dad was lucky to have escaped being enlisted, my grandfather got cut off after the onitsha head bridge was broken, luckily he returned after the war. So many families never had such luck… Tears 😭.

Years down the line, it remains fresh in our souls. We remember not because we want to take vengeance, but because we want to keep their bravery and sacrifice alive forever.

we must protect life and not take it.May the souls of all those that were murdered in the pogroms in the north in 1966 and in the civil war RIP.

To all the Military officers, Police, Child soldiers and civilians who died, we remember and say “Rest in Peace”.

Almost every family in Igbo land had one bizzare experience to tell about the Civil War. Some lost their parents, some never saw their kids again and deliberate starvation didn’t help the matter at all. We still remember.

May the souls of the fallen Biafran heroes rest in peace. Amen

Some parts of the Eastern part of Nigerian are currently observing strict sit at home in Remembrance of the blood and tears of the fallen heroes past.
