Anthony Joshua avenged his defeat by Andy Ruiz Jr with a brilliant boxing display to become world heavyweight champion for the second time.

AJ boxed his way to a unanimous points victory to reclaim the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles he lost in shocking style in June.

The Watford man was given a 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 victory by the judges as be avenged the only defeat of his career.

A leaner, slimmer Joshua gave up over three stone to his opponent but looked slick and fast as he stuck to his brilliant game plan.

He rocked Ruiz Jr with a massive right hand at the end of the first round that cut Ruiz Jr above his left eye.

AJ picked up a cut above his eye from a clash of heads in the second round, but continued to land big shots on a heavier and slower Ruiz Jr.

Joshua boxed cleverly off the back foot and tried to stay away from engaging with his opponent at close range.

He was tagged a couple of times by the 20st 3lbs power puncher in the middle rounds, but responded a lot better than when he was caught in New York in June and hit the canvas.

AJ landed plenty of big shots on Ruiz Jr, but the champion continued to march forward towards his man until the final bell.

Joshua stuck to the game plan and boxed off the back foot until the end of the 12th round, and claimed a unanimous points win to put himself back on top of the world.
