Alex Otti flaggs off training of 50,000 Abia farmers with Abia’s First 6-Lane Road Project (video)

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has officially commenced the construction of a six-lane expansion project for the Ossah road, a significant milestone as it marks the state’s first six-lane road. The road, stretching over three and a half kilometers, is set to become the primary gateway to and from Umuahia, the state capital.

Governor Otti presided over the project’s flag-off ceremony at the Okpara Square, the road’s starting point. During his speech, the governor acknowledged the initial skepticism surrounding the project’s feasibility and the resistance from property owners affected by the road expansion. However, he emphasized that agreements had been reached with affected property owners, and his administration had allocated funds for the full compensation of the 130 structures earmarked for demolition.

Furthermore, Governor Otti announced similar infrastructure developments, including road expansion projects connecting to the Imo River boundary at Owerrinta and Ogbor Hill Aba. These efforts are aimed at easing traffic congestion within Aba and providing an alternative route to Akwa Ibom via Ogbor Hill.
