2023: APC Loosing Ground, As Its Prominent Members Defects En masse to PDP

By Tony Ezike

The ruling coalition All Progressives Congress APC is assuming the shape of an empty hall as both elected public officers of the party and other prominent members have started leaving the party in droves.

Recent developments in the party is a clear indication that that the election of the former Lagos State Governor Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential front bearer of the party did not go down well with its teeming supporters and stakeholders.

Despite a large number of supporters who are mostly individuals that benefitted from the APC presidential candidate throughout his sojourn in Nigerian politics, his acceptability among members of the party has taken a downward trend.

So far, no fewer ten key stakeholders of the party have dumped the party for the leading opposition party PDP in protest of the various administrative anomalies and crisis rocking the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Sequel to these reasons which seems to have defied several attempts at peaceful resolution through the party’s internal mechanisms, the following members of the All Progressives Congress have decided to continue their political careers with the Peoples Democratic Party PDP:

  1. Member House of Representative Representing Kalgo And Bunza Hon Bello Yakubu Rilisco
  2. Member House of Representative Representing Aliero Jega And Gwandu Hon. Muhammad Umar Jega
  3. Member House of Assembly from Arewa LG Kebbi State
  4. Former Governor of Kebbi State HE Sa’idu Usman Dakingari
  5. Member House of Representatives From Gwandu LG Hon Habibu Labbo
  6. Kebbi State Deputy Speaker Hon Muhammad Buhari
  7. Member House of Representatives Representing Dandi And Arewa Hon Abdullahi Zimbo

This mass movement from APC to PDP might not be unconnected to the towering influence of the PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who recently emerged the party’s flag bearer in a peaceful and keenly contested presidential primaries held in Abuja last week.
